In my late twenties, I was diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis (AS) and later fibromyalgia. What I didn’t expect was how much the emotional impact - fear, guilt, shame, and frustration - would affect me. I had always been a go-go-go, “yes” person, but suddenly I had to slow down, face an identity shift, and learn to live differently.
Over time, I discovered how to manage my energy, set boundaries, and communicate my needs with confidence. Most importantly, I learned that life with chronic illness can still be meaningful, fulfilling, and yours to shape, which is why I’m now so passionate about supporting others going through the same.
